Chesterton Elementary School

Project Details

Chesterton Elementary School, part of the San Diego Unified School District, is undergoing a comprehensive Whole Site Modernization. This project involves the complete demolition of all existing permanent buildings and portable classrooms, followed by the construction of new facilities designed to support modern learning for over 600 students.

The new facilities include an administration building, a multipurpose/food service building, and three classroom buildings designed to accommodate Universal Transitional Kindergarten (UTK) through 5th grade. The modernization also features a dedicated learning commons space. In addition to the new buildings, the project will include extensive site improvements such as regrading and new utility installations, upgraded drainage and stormwater management, new parking and student drop-off zones, play equipment installation, and designated delivery and trash pickup areas.

Our team played a critical role in the successful delivery of this project, providing hazardous material abatement, selective demolition, and building demolition. We ensured the safe removal of hazardous materials, including asbestos and lead-based paint, from existing structures. Our selective demolition involved the targeted removal of interior and exterior building elements, while the building demolition included the complete removal of all permanent structures and portable classrooms, allowing for a clear and prepared site for the new construction.
