Project Details
Euclid Elementary School, part of the San Diego Unified School District, is undergoing a phased Whole Site Modernization designed to replace outdated facilities, improve campus infrastructure, and create modern learning environments that support long-term student success.
Demolition and Site Preparation
The project includes demolition of approximately 15,565 square feet of existing classroom buildings, along with the removal of 11 relocatable buildings to make way for new construction and campus improvements.
Watkins Environmental supports school modernization projects with services such as commercial demolition and selective demolition, helping safely prepare existing campuses for renovation and redevelopment.
New Construction
A new student services and classroom facility is being added to expand instructional and support space. The project also includes a new visitor and administrator parking lot designed to improve accessibility, circulation, and traffic flow around the campus.
Classroom and Interior Modernization
Approximately 37,650 square feet of multipurpose rooms, classrooms, and kindergarten areas are being modernized to meet current educational standards. The existing student services facility will also be converted into additional classroom space.
Targeted interior demolition can help prepare existing learning spaces for renovation while preserving structural elements and surrounding areas that remain in use.
Campus and Outdoor Improvements
Additional site improvements include shaded lunch court areas, a new turf playfield, upgraded drainage, enhanced outdoor spaces, and improvements to campus security features.
Project Timeline
The Whole Site Modernization is being completed in phases, with final completion expected by summer 2027. Once finished, the project will provide Euclid Elementary School with modernized classrooms, improved infrastructure, expanded student services, and safer, more functional outdoor spaces.
