Holmes Elementary School

Project Details

Holmes Elementary School, part of San Diego Unified School District, is undergoing a Whole Site Modernization that includes new construction, classroom upgrades, and the development of a joint-use playfield to serve both the school and local community.

Key project components include:

  • New Construction:
    • Upper-grade classroom building
    • Student services facility
    • Universal Transitional Kindergarten (UTK) building and two new kindergarten classrooms
  • Modernization & Interior Upgrades:
    • Renovation of existing upper-grade and kindergarten classrooms with updated finishes, paint, flooring, and whiteboards
    • Modernization of three additional classroom buildings
    • Expansion of the food services kitchen
    • Conversion of the current student services building into additional educational space
  • Site Improvements:
    • New parking lot with student drop-off/pick-up areas
    • Upgrades to campus security and hard court play areas
  • Joint-Use Grass Playfield:
    • Grass field with a walking/running track, trees, fencing, and drinking fountains
    • Built under the Play All Day partnership with the City of San Diego
    • Open to the public after school hours and during breaks

Construction began in April 2024 and is expected to be completed by late 2026.
