Rolando Park Elementary School, part of San Diego Unified School District, is undergoing a comprehensive modernization to enhance early education, campus security, and outdoor learning spaces while integrating joint-use facilities for community access.

Key components of the project include:

  • New Construction:
    • Two-classroom Universal Transitional Kindergarten (UTK) building
    • Addition at the front of campus to establish a secure, single-point-of-entry administration area
  • Classroom Upgrades:
    • Modernization of existing classrooms to align with updated educational standards
  • Kitchen Enhancement:
    • Conversion of the existing warming kitchen into a fully operational commercial kitchen
  • Site Improvements:
    • Enhanced security measures and improved wayfinding
    • New shade structures, gathering areas, outdoor learning zones, and playground equipment

Additionally, joint-use fields developed in collaboration with the City of San Diego include natural grass surfaces, walking/running tracks, picnic tables, benches, shade trees, and landscaping. These are accessible to the public after school hours and during breaks.
